About the Role:

The Dining Services Manager is responsible for delivering exceptional service, quality, and resident satisfaction across all front-of-house dining operations at Berwick Royal Oak in all food service areas. This role provides hands-on leadership and daily oversight of all front-of-house team members, ensuring service excellence, operational efficiency, and meaningful resident engagement.

  • Full-time position, Tuesday to Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (40 hours per week).

The Dining Services Manager maintains a strong on-floor presence during all meal periods, leading lunch and dinner service across all dining areas to ensure service standards, smooth operations, and high resident satisfaction. This role actively engages residents to gather feedback and resolve concerns, supports front-of-house staff during service, and collaborates closely with the Active Living team on events and special dining experiences. Responsibilities include managing function sheets and schedules, overseeing staffing and timekeeping, conducting training and service audits, and ensuring cleanliness, safety, and service standards are consistently met. The Manager recruits, trains, and develops front-of-house team members, supports performance management, encourages engagement and morale, and serves as the primary point of contact for hourly staff. Additional duties include coordinating and executing special events, maintaining compliance with health and safety requirements, responding to emergencies, and performing all other responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Manager of Hospitality.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a dining services management or front-of-house leadership role
  • Current Basic Food Safe Certificate
  • Current First Aid – Standard
  • Serving it Right Certification
  • Prior experience in hospitality, food service, or senior living preferred
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to resolve resident concerns with professionalism and empathy
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of service standards, event coordination, and staff scheduling
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Comfortable using payroll, scheduling, and reporting system

As such, a prerequisite of employment is that all new hires are vaccinated as approved by Health Canada.
