Chef/Manager – Kelowna

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee all kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Develop and implement creative menus that reflect current culinary trends while catering to diverse dietary needs.
  • Supervise kitchen staff, including chefs, cooks, and support personnel, fostering a collaborative and motivated team environment.
  • Manage inventory control, including ordering supplies, minimizing waste, and maintaining accurate stock levels.
  • Enforce strict adherence to food safety standards and sanitation regulations across all kitchen activities.
  • Coordinate with catering and banquet services to deliver exceptional food experiences for large events and special occasions.
  • Oversee shift management, ensuring efficient workflow during busy periods while maintaining high standards of service.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in fine dining establishments with a strong background in food production and culinary arts.
  • Extensive banquet experience with the ability to manage large-scale food service events.
  • Supervising experience with demonstrated leadership skills in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Knowledge of dietary department practices, including accommodating special dietary restrictions and allergies.
  • Strong skills in menu planning, inventory management, and food handling procedures.
  • Experience in restaurant management or food service management roles with a focus on team leadership.
  • Familiarity with food safety protocols, kitchen management systems, and inventory control techniques.
  • CSNM (Certified in Nutritional Management with current standing in the Canadian Society of Nutritional Management) preferred.
  • Previous experience in a long term care or assisted living facility with working knowledge of Therapeutic diets and residential guidelines according to the health authority.
