Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Health Care Food Services Supervisor to join the Food Services team working out of Richmond Hospital in Richmond, BC. The successful candidate will be self motivated and able to work both independently and in a team setting. They will also have a strong work ethic that allows them to oversee daily food services to ensure a safe and respectful environment for staff, patients, residents, families, and visitors.

As a Health Care Food Service Supervisor with VCH you will:

  • Ensure diet orders are compliant and meet the provisions for nutritional care as determined by Clinical Nutrition for inpatients and outpatients using the nutrition software program.
  • Be the liaison between Clinical Nutrition and Food Services, visit patients to obtain diet related information regarding nutritional and therapeutic diet needs, and in consultation with the Clinical Dietitian as required;
    • identify patient/resident food preference/food tolerance/food acceptance;
    • chart activities in patient/resident medical record such as meal intake, diet and diet-related information;
    • input and/or updates patient/resident diet and diet-related information into a computerized system.
  • Oversee the daily food service in assigned areas including supervising designated staff, maintaining and updating manual and computerized records such as the staffing schedule, performing related administrative duties and maintaining food standards by participating in quality assurance activities.
  • Promote and maintain excellent customer relations and effective on-going communication with all levels of staff.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Graduation from a recognized two-year program in Food Service Supervision plus one year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Food Safe Certificate 1.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Ability to supervise.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
