Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Facility Operations & Services, the Support Services Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of non-clinical support services, including food services, housekeeping, and laundry. The Supervisor ensures these services meet the required standards of safety, sanitation, quality, and efficiency in accordance with health authority licensing guidelines, infection control policies, and resident satisfaction goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and supervise the daily operations of food services, housekeeping, and laundry departments to ensure efficient service delivery and compliance with established standards.
  • Schedule, assign, and adjust work assignments in response to changes in workload, staffing levels, and operational priorities.
  • Supervise support services staff by providing direction, mentoring, training, and performance feedback in accordance with best practices, including food safety, infection control, and occupational health and safety.
  • Participate in recruitment activities including onboarding and orientation of new employees.
  • Assist with coordinating and delivery of ongoing training and education programs.
  • Promote and maintain a culture of safety, respect, teamwork, and continuous learning within the support services team.
  • Ensure meals are prepared and served in compliance with nutrition, dietetic, and food safety standards; collaborate with contracted dietitian and clinical staff to support individualized resident dietary needs.
  • Maintain food and supply inventory by estimating requirements, ordering products in accordance with purchasing specifications, receiving goods, monitoring storage and rotation, and resolving discrepancies with suppliers to minimize waste, loss, and spoilage.
  • Oversee housekeeping and laundry services to ensure high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, linen handling, and infection prevention and control.
  • Conduct routine housekeeping audits of resident rooms and common areas.
  • Coordinate cleaning schedules, linen distribution, labeling of resident clothing and facility linens, and proper handling of soiled materials.
  • Ensure departmental operations comply with applicable legislation, licensing requirements, organizational policies, and infection control protocols.
  • Conduct regular food services audits, daily rounds, and quality improvement activities to evaluate service delivery and maintain established standards.
  • Support incidents investigations, complaints, and work-related injuries; implement corrective actions and review systems and processes to improve safety and service quality.
  • Ensure equipment and appliances are maintained in good working order, coordinate repairs, and recommend improvements as needed.
  • Assist the implementation of contingency plans to maintain continuity of services during emergencies or operational disruptions.
  • Participate in Occupational Health and Safety activities, staff education, incident prevention initiatives, and departmental meetings and huddles.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a recognized two-year program in Food Services Supervision, plus a minimum of one year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Membership or eligibility for membership to the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM).
  • Food Safe Level 1 certification (Level 2 preferred).
  • Knowledge of infection control practices, WHMIS, and workplace safety standards.
  • Excellent leadership, supervisory, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to operate job related equipment.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a full-time position.

o Sunday to Tuesday – 8am to 4pm

o Wednesday to Thursday – 10am to 6pm

  • May require working evenings depending on operational needs.
  • Physical activity including standing, walking, and occasional lifting is required.

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
